NHAI Outperforms FY26 Targets with 15% Growth

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has surpassed its construction target for the financial year 2025-26, registering a 15% increase over its internal goals. According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, NHAI constructed 5,313 km of national highways against a set target of 4,640 km.

While the performance exceeded the annual goal, the total construction pace saw a slight dip compared to the 5,614 km achieved in FY25. This achievement was supported by a robust capital expenditure of ₹2,44,362 crore, which is 2.5% higher than the initial budgetary support of ₹2,38,384 crore. NHAI bridged the ₹5,978 crore funding gap through its own internal resources, including asset monetization via InvITs and Toll-Operate-Transfer (TOT) models.

Looking ahead, NHAI maintains an active construction pipeline of 27,597 km with a capital cost of ₹7.72 lakh crore, of which over 13,000 km is currently under active development.
