The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has signed a five year MoU with the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) to strengthen National Highway infrastructure development through advanced tunnel engineering, geotechnical engineering and slope stability analysis.
Under the partnership, NGI will provide consultancy support for tunnel construction projects, feasibility studies, DPR preparation, tunnel safety audits, slope monitoring, natural hazard mitigation and early warning systems using advanced infrastructure monitoring and InSAR technologies.
The collaboration will also focus on institutional capacity building, technical training, workshops, research initiatives and knowledge exchange to support safe, sustainable and world class highway infrastructure development in India.
