The Godhra-Vadodara section of the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway has officially entered its trial phase as of April 13, 2026. This newly completed eight-lane, access-controlled stretch runs from Bhamaiya village to Dodka village, significantly enhancing connectivity within Gujarat. Part of the ₹1 lakh crore Bharatmala Pariyojana and PM Gati Shakti initiatives, the expressway is designed for speeds of 100-120 km/h and will eventually link to the Samruddhi Mahamarg.
Spanning 1,386 km across six states, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, the full project aims to reduce travel time between Delhi and Mumbai to just 12 hours. It serves as a vital corridor for major economic hubs and infrastructure, including Jewar Airport and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust.
While direct connectivity between Delhi and Gujarat is anticipated by late 2026, the remaining link between the Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh borders is expected to finish by the end of May. Once fully operational, the expressway will feature over 90 designated interchanges, connecting key cities such as Gurugram, Jaipur, Indore, and Surat.1
The upcoming completion of the 220 km Jhabua-to-Vadodara stretch will further bridge the gap between Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, fostering regional economic growth through advanced smart and green highway technology.
