The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has invited bids for the DPR and feasibility study of a proposed ₹15,000 crore second Pune-Mumbai Expressway aimed at reducing travel time between the two cities to 90 minutes.
The 130 km access controlled greenfield expressway will run parallel to the existing Pune-Mumbai Expressway, connecting Chowk in Raigad district to Pune Ring Road via the JNPT corridor and Atal Setu connectivity.
Officials said the eight lane highway infrastructure project will help reduce traffic congestion, improve freight movement and strengthen connectivity between Pune, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and major industrial corridors in Maharashtra.
