The Andhra Pradesh Police have launched a QR code-based real-time traveller protection system to bolster passenger safety in public and rental transport. Developed by G. Srinivas Reddy, a student at Mohan Babu University, the system allows passengers to scan a sticker behind the driver’s seat to verify credentials while simultaneously sharing their live location with the police control room.
Currently being rolled out across autorickshaws and app-based aggregators like Uber and Ola, the platform prioritizes the safety of women and children through instant emergency tracking and a feedback mechanism that monitors driver behavior. This initiative aims to reduce response times and prevent road incidents through proactive, tech-driven surveillance.
