Is This New Radar Safety Technology the Way to Stop Devastating Road Accidents?

With over a decade of focused expertise in intelligent mobility and road safety solutions, Ador Powertron has established itself as a key player in India’s smart traffic ecosystem. Backed by the century-old legacy of the ADOR Group, the company continues to design and manufacture solutions that address the complex realities of Indian road conditions while preparing for global expansion, says Nachiket Kulkarni, Business Head-Traffic & Enforcement (Products) in talks with TrafficInfraTech.

What are the technological innovations introduced by Ador Powertron for safe mobility in India?

At Ador Powertron, our foundation lies in engineering excellence backed by the century-old legacy of the ADOR Group. Over the past decade and more, we have focused intensely on intelligent mobility and road safety solutions with a clear mission — Helping People Get Home Safe.

Our key highlights include over 2,500 successful installations across highways, smart cities, municipalities, industrial plants, school zones, military bases and residential communities. We maintain a 100% efficient installation record and operate with globally compliant quality standards.

Our core solutions include:

•    SERENITi – Radar-based speed signs

•    SERENITi CAM – Integrated radar and camera enforcement system

•    Highway VASS (Vehicle Actuated Speed and Safety System) – Intelligent highway safety solution

•    Harmony – Integrated urban traffic intelligence platform

•    Variable Message Signs (VMS) – Dynamic real-time traffic communication systems

•    Portable / Trailer-Mounted Variable Message Signs (VMS) – Mobile digital display systems for real-time traffic messaging in temporary, work-zone and emergency deployments

•    Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS)

•    Toll Management System (TMS)

•    Truck Mounted Attenuators (TMA) for work zone protection

What differentiates us is our ability to combine radar, AI, automation and centralised analytics into solutions that deliver measurable behavioural change and safety improvement under one roof.

Many of your road safety solutions are manufactured in India taking into account the local conditions and requirements. More on this.

India presents some of the most complex road conditions globally — extreme heat, heavy dust, mixed traffic, dense urban congestion and high-speed highway corridors.

Our solutions are designed and manufactured in India to directly address these realities. They are:

•    IP67-rated for durability in harsh environments

•    Engineered for high visibility even under extreme sunlight (EN12966 certified)

•    Capable of seamless day and night operation with solar compatibility

•    Adaptable for both urban and high-speed highway environments

In-house manufacturing allows us to customise quickly, scale cost-effectively and provide strong after-sales support. It ensures that our systems are not only technologically advanced but also practically resilient.

Especially your radar-based solutions designed and manufactured in your facility in India. What are these, their applications and features?

Radar technology is central to our intelligent mobility ecosystem and we take great pride in the fact that we are the only manufacturer in India producing both radar and display systems in-house, ensuring complete control over quality, accuracy and integration.

SERENITi is our radar-based speed display system designed to promote behavioural change through real-time feedback. It displays vehicle speed using tricolour LED indicators — red for over-speeding and green for compliance — creating instant awareness and encouraging corrective action. The objective is not just enforcement but long-term driver discipline through visible, immediate feedback.

SERENITi CAM builds on this foundation by integrating enforcement capability. It captures:

•    Vehicle images

•    Number plate details

•    Speed data

•    Timestamped violations

•    Remote dashboard analytics

This combination of radar precision and evidence-based monitoring enables authorities to ensure compliance with transparency and accuracy.

For high-speed corridors, we developed Highway VASS (Vehicle Actuated Speed and Safety System) — specifically engineered for expressways and national highways. It:

•    Detects vehicle speeds in real time

•    Dynamically displays speed alerts

•    Provides warnings in accident-prone and construction zones

•    Integrates with centralised control systems

•    Enhances compliance in transition and merging areas

Highway VASS acts as an intelligent safety intervention system, particularly critical in high-speed environments where reaction time is limited.

For urban networks, VIDES (Video Incident Detection and Enforcement System) offers synchronised traffic intelligence by integrating signal systems, monitoring devices and analytics dashboards. It enables adaptive signal coordination, multi-point violation detection and centralised command centre integration — significantly improving congestion management and emergency response times.

Together, these radar-driven systems create a layered and intelligent safety ecosystem — moving seamlessly from traffic calming to enforcement and ultimately to full corridor and city-level mobility intelligence.

How do you think these have international applications?

Road safety challenges are universal. Rapid urbanisation and highway expansion are global phenomena, particularly in developing economies.

Our solutions are globally relevant because they are:

•    Durable in extreme environmental conditions

•    Scalable across cities and highways

•    Designed for high-density traffic environments

•    Integrated with secure, centralised dashboards

•    Capable of high-speed detection

Given the ADOR Group’s long-standing international collaborations, we are well positioned to expand into global markets where intelligent, cost-effective mobility infrastructure is in demand.

What are your plans for future product development?

Our vision is to move from standalone devices to fully integrated intelligent mobility ecosystems. We are investing in:

•    AI-driven predictive traffic analytics

•    MLFF (Multi Lane Free Flow)

•    Road condition analytics using dashcam

•    Smart highway corridors combining Highway VASS, ATMS and Toll Management

•    Cloud-based centralised traffic command platforms

•    Data-driven decision-support systems for city authorities

The future of road safety lies in proactive prevention rather than reactive enforcement. Our focus is on predictive intelligence and automation.

You are also into green mobility and EV charging…

Yes, sustainability is an integral part of our strategy.

Beyond traffic systems, we operate in clean energy infrastructure, including:

•    Industrial battery chargers

•    DC fast chargers for electric vehicles

•    High-voltage rectifier-transformer systems

•    Green hydrogen rectifier technologies

As mobility becomes electric and sustainable, intelligent infrastructure will play a critical role. We see safety and sustainability as complementary pillars of the same future mobility ecosystem.

“At Ador Powertron, innovation is not just about technology — it is about impact. Every radar alert, every highway intervention, every adaptive signal and every intelligent dashboard is built with one purpose: To make mobility safer, smarter and sustainable.”
