Nationwide road safety directive

The Supreme Court has directed strict measures to improve highway safety and reduce road fatalities across India. The ruling bans heavy vehicle parking on highway carriageways and orders the removal of unauthorized structures along highways. It also mandates the use of Advanced Traffic Management Systems for digital enforcement and e-challan generation. Additionally, District Magistrates must form Highway Safety Task Forces, while the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways must submit a nationwide compliance report within 75 days.
