Plan to close down level crossings in Kerala

In a bid to check the rising number of accidents at railway level crossings in Kerala and other states, the Railways has come up with a plan to close down the unmanned level crossings in Kerala and set up about 80 Railway Over Bridges in two years. Most of the unmanned crossings do not have adequate and trained personnel to man them, and thus are a great threat for the safety of people and vehicles crossing them. The elimination of the unmanned crossings will also increase the punctuality of the trains.
