Pune’s AI-based Intelligent Traffic Management System will soon automate traffic enforcement at nearly 500 locations, with up to 99% of challans expected to be auto-generated. According to the Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil, the move aims to improve compliance through ‘certainty of punishment’ while supporting data-driven traffic management to address rising congestion caused by rapid urban growth and increasing private vehicle use.
