Pune traffic police have started a new traffic alert service for Pune’s residents. People can now get information on traffic jams, accidents or vehicle break-downs in the city via sms. For that they need to subscribe to the special service by typing JOIN (space) PTP and sending it on 921952195. The citizens can opt out of the service just by sending a sms. To provide this service free of cost to the citizens of Pune, the traffic police has tied up with a Delhi based company, Gupshup. With this service, Pune joins the list of cities which already have this service, i.e., Delhi, Gurgaon, Kolkata, Bangalore and Mumbai. Alerts on traffic congestion and VIP visits will be sent daily.
