E-challans, sms alert systems, intelligent use of available space for parking and the ‘108 ambulance’ service have made a huge difference to Chennai’s traffic. Purushottam Sharma, Inspector General of Police (SCRB), Bhopal has now proposed the use of e-challans integrated with camera, smart card and credit card readers and the traffic control rooms, to help in booking the traffic offenders on the spot.
