Steel slag

Steel, slag is 30-40 per cent more cost-effective and lasts up to three times longer than standard bitumen roads. It is suitable for various environments, from coastal regions to rugged terrains. The Indian Ministry of Steel awarded a national project to study steel slag in road construction.

India’s first ‘all steel slag road’ was built in Hazira using specially designed aggregates in 2022. The Steel Ministry promotes steel slag road tech with the Science and Road Ministries to boost by-product use and advance India’s $2 trillion circular economy.
