Nagpur recently launched a Green Bus project which is the first ethanol-run and environment-friendly public bus. The engines of the buses, manufactured by Swedish company Scania, comply with Bharat Stage 5 norms. The CO2 emissions from the bus will be as low as 15% to 90%;, as compared to diesel run buses. The Union government, Maharashtra government and Nagpur Municipal Corporation will monitor the emissions of the new bus.
