The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has named the project to implement Electronic Toll Collection throughout the country as FASTag. Dedicated ETC lanes on national highways and other important roads will have colour coding so that they are distinctly recognised as FASTag lanes. ICICI and Axis banks, which have been engaged for providing Central Clearing House (CCH) services, will distribute RFID based FASTags through their franchises/agents and at points of sales near the toll plazas.
