MSRTC to roll out new steel buses

The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) which runs the second largest fleet of buses in the country (16,500 buses), has decided to replace aluminium with steel in the body of its buses. Steel is stronger than aluminium. The conversion will make the buses more resistant to damage in case of crashes and will enhance passenger safety to a great extent.

The project, which is already underway at the Pune workshop of the MSRTC, is expected to produce the first five ‘Parivartan’ buses with mild steel bodies within a month.
