MMRDA signs agreement with contractors for MTHL Packages 1 & 3

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has signed agreement with contractors for Packages 1 and 3 for the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) project.

 The Package-1 – from Sewri up to 10.38-km (10.38km) of the MTHL will be constructed by the consortium of M/s L&T and IHI, Japan (M/s IHI Infrastructure Systems Co Ltd. for an accepted contract cost of Rs 7,637.30Cr. Package-3 – from step 18.187 up to Chirle (3.613km) will be constructed by M/s L&T Ltd. India for an accepted contract cost of Rs 1,013.79Cr.

An agreement for Package-2 running from step 10.38-km up to step 18.187-km (7.807 km) will be entered into with M/s Daewoo and Tata Projects soon at an accepted contract cost of Rs 5,612.61Cr.

The scope of the project includes a 21.80-km long, 6-lane bridge with emergency / maintenance lane on either side. This includes 16.5-km long bridge across Mumbai bay with 5.5-km viaducts on land on either side. The link will have interchanges at Sewri in Mumbai and at Shivaji Nagar and Chirle on NH-4B on Navi Mumbai side.
