ITMS for Mumbai-Pune Expressway

AI-powered Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) will be introduced along Mumbai-Pune Expressway as per the latest reports.  AI and data analytics will  streamline vehicle flow and bolster road safety.  The RTO will monitor the system from the control room at Lonavala. ITMS will be able to  automatically recognize vehicle number plates, enabling  the police to issue e-challans for traffic violations. The  system, connected to the central control room, will  also  significantly reduce the occurrence of prolonged traffic congestion caused by stationary  vehicles.

The  ITMS will deploy more than 200  mounted AI-enabled CCTV cameras mounted on gantries strategically positioned along the 95-kilometer stretch. The  cameras can detect up to 17 different types of traffic violations, ensuring comprehensive surveillance and enforcement.
