Thane will become the first city in Maharashtra to get foot-over-bridges (FOBs) with escalators if things go as per the plan of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC). The FOBs, to be built along the Ghodbunder Road, have been a long-standing demand of the residents of the area as the area has been plagued by a high rate of accidents. Heavy traffic, vehicular congestion and the ongoing construction of flyovers have made crossing the road a dangerous affair. The FOBs will be constructed at 10 places on the 14km road on a build-operate-transfer basis.
