Essar Infra to invest Rs.10,000 crore in highways sector

Essar Infrastructure, which recently won orders worth 2500 crore from the NHAI for upgrading two national highways in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, is planning to invest 10,000 crore in the rapidly growing highways sector during the next two to three years. The NHAI project in Bihar is a BOT contract for widening the 112km stretch between Khagaria to Bakhtiyapur, and has a concession period of 21 years. The company has entered into an agreement with KNR Construction, a construction company based in Hyderabad, to execute the project. The other contract is for widening the 125.9km Lucknow-Sultanpur stretch in Uttar Pradesh, with a concession period of 23 years including two-and-a-half years of construction time.
