CISCO and L&T to provide connected transportation

US based CISCO, through its Cisco Connected Transportation Solutions and L&T Technology Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of the L&T Group, have come together in a project to provide connected transportation solutions in the country. The solutions offered will integrate multiple in-station networks and retail communication systems into a standards-based IP network. It will lower the cost of network operations, and reduce complexity of older, proprietary networks. The Solution Centre, to be based in L will seek to improve productivity in railways and mass transit and make them intelligent and safer. It will offer a range of products and services addressing both on-board and trackside deployments in a variety of applications. Another application will be fleet management for the automotive sector, which would also include tracking of maintenance data which could provide better solution for trucking companies.
