Chinese vehicle makers to increase presence in India

An increasing number of vehicle manufacturers are looking at increasing their presence in the Indian truck and commercial vehicle market, the second largest in Asia. Truck major BeiBen is planning to introduce its vast range of heavy duty trucks, developed in technical collaboration with Mercedes Benz. The company would organise customer surveys in major Indian cities in which details of its vehicles would be shown through computer generated slides. Beiqi Foton, a Chinese government-owned automaker, is setting up a 1,676 crore commercial vehicle production facility at Khed near Pune. Great Wall Motors, China’s eighth-largest carmaker, is all set to introduce its contemporary sporty utility vehicle, Haval H5, in the country.
