Santiago Metro to get 11 new stations

Metro de Santiago in Chile has awarded a contract to UK based Arup to design 11 stations on two of its new lines which are being built for Chile’s capital. Arup will build new interchanges with existing lines on the metro network. The contract also includes station planning, tunnel and station ventilation, fire engineering and passenger movement analysis. The new lines will extend the coverage of the metro network in Santiago by about 37km and 28 stations. The new lines also present challenges in construction since they are being built deeper than the existing network.
