Rahul Asthana, a 1978 IAS officer from the Maharashtra cadre, took charge as the Metropolitan Commissioner, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) on March 10, 2011 He has said that expediting transport and infrastructure projects, specially mass transit projects such as the Mumbai Metro & Mumbai Monorail, and other transport projects need urgent attention and would be a top priority for him.
