EC releases road safety app

Going Abroad AppA new road safety app for smartphones has been released by the European Commission that informs overseas drivers of road safety rules in 28 European countries The app ”GoingAbroad” contains important information as well as games such as a road safety quiz and memory games to keep passengers entertained on long stretches on the road. Rules and road signs differ across the EU. The ‘Going Abroad’ app provides convenient and user-friendly information to help minimise the risk of overseas drivers inadvertently running foul of local laws. Topics in the app include speed limits, seat belts, traffic lights, alcohol limits, forbidden lanes, helmets, and mobile phone use. Users can download the app before leaving home to save on roaming charges.
