MoRTH organizes Road Safety Cyclothon

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in collaboration with Delhi Police and the International Road Federation recently organized the Road Safety cyclothon to highlight the importance of using cycle reflectors by involving civil society, youth and others. The cyclothon was attended by over 1000 cyclists including children, retired army personnel, school & college student, cancer survivors, visually challenged and several others. The event was supported by Hero Cycles, Mother Dairy, Avery Dennison, Apollo Hospitals and Maruti.

According to Vijay Chhibber, Secretary, Transport, “The Ministry is concerned about the high number of fatalities and therefore we have initiated the process of making road safety a national movement by involving various concerned stakeholders including school, college, organizations, corporate and individuals to create awareness on various road safety issues.”

The Cyclothon was flagged off by Olympian Sushil Kumar in the presence of Vijay Chhibber, Secretary, Transport; BS Bassi, Commissioner of Police, Delhi; Sanjay Bandhyopadhyay, Joint Secretary, Transport; Taj Hassan, Special Commissioner, Delhi Police; cricketer Ajay Jadeja and Dronacharya Awardee Yashpal Singh Dabas.
