Uttar Pradesh introduces online tax payment for outstation vehicles

The Uttar Pradesh Transport Department has introduced online payment of taxes for vehicles registered in other states and entering the state for commercial trips on temporary permits. The vehicle owners in fact can pay the tax from their home states, even before making the trip by logging onto the department’s website vahan.up.nic.in/upcheckpost. This avoids unnecessary, time-consuming trips of government offices. The user provides the required information about the vehicle and the software shows the tax to be paid for the vehicle. The department has entered into an agreement with State Bank of India which provides net banking facility for the website.
