A total of 14 companies, including five foreign firms, have submitted proposals for setting up an integrated security and surveillance system in Noida. The high-tech system known as C4i – Command, Control, Communication, Computing and Intelligence – will add teeth to the police force, helping cops check crime and traffic offences.

As part of the C4i projects, several hundred closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras will be placed at strategic locations selected by a team of police and other district officials. Each CCTV camera will have a backup of 24 hours and their system will be linked through an optic-fibre broadband link-up. Real-time surveillance of numerous crossings and border points across the district will be enabled through the system. Besides, a control room – manned by cops and IT experts – will be set up to monitor the system and also link all police stations in the district online.
