NASA has delivered a new software – the Precision Departure Release Capability (PDRC) – developed by it, to the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The software which will help air traffic controllers (ATC) speed up aircraft departures, will help reduce missed or delayed departures, and thus improve overall air traffic management. The surface model component of will precisely predict both departure times and departure runways with the data automatically sent to en route centres, which would then offer ascent trajectories for aircraft to join the high-altitude traffic stream.
