New Delhi station to get new entry point

The Railways is considering introducing a new entry point called Premier Access at the New Delhi railway station to ease overcrowding and also provide a value added service. The separate entrance will lead to a 300sqm executive lounge, the first one in India. The lounge will have facilities such as seating, wash room, food, beverages, a book stall and wheel chairs for senior and handicapped citizens. It will also have wi-fi, fax and a locker facility. Trained personnel will assist the passengers. The personnel will render services such as helping in receiving passengers and arrange porters to carry luggage. The Railways? subsidiary IRCTC will manage the lounge. Commuters have to pay ? 300 to avail the facility for three hours. The facility will be introduced gradually at railway stations in other cities such as Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai and Agra.
