The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) will provide a high-speed metro rail link to the Bangalore International Airport. Commuters can board a metro train at any point in the city and then take a connecting metro train to the airport. The BMRC will be responsible for construction and maintenance of the high-speed metro link. This decision by the government replaces the earlier decision to set up a separate body to construct the metro link to the airport which would have entailed setting up a separate company, separate infrastructure and team. The project is expected to cost around Rs. 6,000 crore.
