The Kerala government has given Kochi Metro the power to acquire land directly from farmers and other land holders, a step aimed at speeding up the project. The government has made available funds worth Rs. 70cr for land acquisition for the widening of the Vyttila-Petta stretch, which involves the acquisition of 3.0138 hectares.
