India’s New Motor Vehicle Act brings down road accidents

According to the government data, there has been a significant dip in the number of accidents after the implementation of New Motor Vehicle Act, 2019. The information was shared by the Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in the ongoing Parliament session. According to the minister, in the last five months, Gujarat has registered a 14% dip in accidents followed by Uttar Pradesh 13%, Jammu and Kashmir 15%, Chandigarh 14%, Andhra Pradesh 7%, Maharashtra 6%, Chhattisgarh 5%, Delhi 2% and Haryana 1%.
