The Urban Development Ministry is considering Chinese investment and expertise to build high-speed rail networks, highways and urban infrastructure. One of the areas in which the expertise is being considered is creating a rapid regional transport system in Delhi that will link the capital with some of the important urban centres nearby with high-speed trains. Chinese companies like Shanghai Urban Construction Group are already involved in infrastructure projects in India such as digging tunnels and installing escalators in underground metro projects. The two countries are in the process of signing a Memorandum of Understanding for the construction of highways in India.
