General Motors (GM) has begun implementing AuraPortal, a Business Process Management (BPM) suite from Aura, to increase administrative efficiency at its Ecuador plant in South America. AuraPortal delivers a solution that creates Business Process Workflow Execution Models without the need of IT programming. It is completely web-based, and is complementary to existing ERP and CRM systems. AuraPortal is first applied to one important business process after which it can be applied to the entire enterprise. GM selected the Part Replenishment & Localisation as the first process. This process requires the intervention and coordination of several departments such as Purchasing, Engineering, Material Administration, Logistics and Finance. The process also involves Bid Management, Quality Control and Document Management.
