The West Bengal state government has rolled out an intensive campaign to prevent road accidents that includes offering tea, water to drivers at night. Recently, drivers on highways passing through Bengal are having a pleasant experience at night. Bengal police have started stopping vehicles on highways and offer drivers water to splash on their face and hot tea to sip to combat drowsiness.The police is also checking on liquor consumption by the drivers.The state transport department has directed that to obtain certificates of fitness to commercial vehicles, they have to be fitted with speed governors.
