Volvo Cars of Sweden has introduced its least expensive model, S60 in India with a price tag of र27 lakhs. The S60 will compete with other luxury cars such as the Mercedes Benz C Class, Audi A4 and the BMW 3 Series. The S60 is powered by a 2.4 litre diesel engine. The company plans to bring out less expensive versions of the S60 with 1.6 litre and 2 litre engines for the Indian market soon. Also in the pipeline are other models: Soft convertible C70, station wagon V60 and the crossover XC70. Volvo Cars will also open about 12 new dealerships across the country.
