Two leading causes of runway excursions were landing on wet runways and landing in an unstable approach, aircraft approaching too fast, too high, or touching down beyond the appropriate touchdown point. Asia-Pacific carriers recorded a 9% year-on-year increase in passenger demand in 2010. Corresponding figures for North America and Europe were 7.4% and 5.1% respectively.
