India has one of the highest rates of road accidents and fatalities in the world. With the massive growth of vehicles in the country’s cities, it becomes imperative to address this poor record of road safety. Towards this end, IRF India has been organising training courses for people to be trained as road safety auditors who would certify developments or products in the road transportation sector as being road safety audit compliant. As of July 2010 IRF has trained nearly 120 road safety auditors. The most recent courses were held at the Central Road Research Institute (CRRI), New Delhi.
