Smart surveillance on Mumbai-Nashik

Maharashtra Highway Traffic Police has launched a six-month camera-based speed enforcement pilot on the Mumbai-Nashik highway to curb over-speeding and improve road safety. The project covers accident-prone stretches between Shahapur and Ghoti using advanced hand-held cameras that can detect speed violations even during rain and at night. Supported by the Global Road Safety Partnership and Bloomberg Philanthropies, the initiative also includes training for traffic personnel to strengthen enforcement and reduce accident fatalities linked to speeding.
