India’s Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has released a consultation paper on spectrum allocation and pricing for vehicle-to-everything communication, marking a major step towards autonomous vehicles in the country. The initiative, involving the Department of Telecom, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, SIAM, and firms like Qualcomm, aims to improve road safety and traffic management through real-time vehicle communication and surrounding infrastructure. A dedicated 30 MHz spectrum for cellular-V2X technology is expected to help reduce accidents caused by human error.
