Gurgaon-based Urban Mass Transit Company (UMTC) has bagged a contract worth Rs 5.33Cr to prepare a revised detailed project report for 33.5 km-long Visakhapatnam Metro project. The Andhra Pradesh government has revised the length of the Metro project from earlier 42.5 km to 80 km, including the 3.85 km new section from Gajuwaka to Vizag Steel Plant. According to the agreement, UMTC would prepare the DPR in the next six months. Besides preparing DPR, UMTC will undertake the responsibility to transaction advisory consultancy services for the bidding process management for the project. The project is based on the public-private partnership model.
