UP to have colour-coded taxis soon

Contract vehicles in UP can no longer be red, maroon or black. The state government recently passed an amendment to the motor vehicle regulations, determining the colour of various contract vehicles and also making it compulsory for bike taxis to function on permits.

Under the amendment, while a bike can be of any colour other than the three prohibited colours, its fuel tank will have to say ‘Bike Taxi’. A four-wheeler will also have to have a blue line running across which says ‘Taxi’. Three wheelers, or autos, will have to be black and yellow while those that run on CNG will be green. Electric vehicles will be white.
